Bhangra Dance-folk dance of india

Bhaṅgṛā (Punjabi: ਭੰਗੜਾ, بھنگڑا) is a form of music and dance that originated in the Punjab region of Pakistan primarily, and also of India. It was one of the traditional dances of the Punjab region split between India and Pakistan and shared some of its origins with similar dances in northwest India, Afghanistan and even Iran. It further became synthesized after the partition of India in which Sikh refugees in India shared their folk dances from their former homes in today's Pakistan. This hybrid dance became Bhangra. It is become popularized by the Indian Sikh Community.[1] Bhangra began as a folk dance conducted by sikh jatts to celebrate the coming of Spring, or Vaisakhi. Today, bhangra survives in different forms and styles all over the globe – including pop music, film soundtracks, and even collegiate competitions.
